HENRY FRANKLIN-SKIPPER AT HOME
$34.95
The Skipper at Home is bassist Henry Franklin's 1974 follow-up to his Black Jazz debut The Skipper. Many of the same players return - Oscar Brashear, Charles Owens, and Bill Henderson (here billed as Kemang Sunduza) - alongside Kirk Lightsey, trombonist Al Hall Jr., and drummer Leon 'Ndugu' Chancler. The set stays rooted in bop while reaching for freer, more electric textures. Remastered and annotated, on blue with black swirl vinyl limited to 500.
